Can you see a Chiropractor if you have dementia?

Everyone can get a bit forgetful at times and we may even joke that our memory isn’t what it used to be compared to years gone by. However, when we become increasingly forgetful (especially after the age of 65 years old) it may mean that its more serious – such as dementia. If the decline is enough to interfere with everyday life it can also affect the way you speak, think and behave. If like me, you only thought that chiropractors treated people with bad backs and necks you may be surprised to learn that people with dementia can be helped by them to. I know this from personal experience as my father in law who has dementia has recently been visiting his chiropractor for treatment. There is a lot of help out there for people with dementia and their carers and it can be a minefield so hopefully sharing my experience can also help.

I found a really good source of information on this and other related subjects by visiting www.backblog.co.uk

Living in such a beautiful seaside town our family like nothing more than meeting up now and again weather permitting and going for gentle strolls along the promenade and maybe stopping for coffee and cake. However, my father in law had started to complain about discomfort when walking and didn’t seem to keen to get out and about which was totally out of character for him. As a result of staying indoors more his mood started to deteriate and we thought he may be heading for an episode of depression. We knew we had to nip this in the bud sharpish.

All the family really wanted to help and get to the root of his pain which we later found out was in his legs. Taking a constant supply of painkillers was not the answer and so we turned to chiropractic to see if that could help. We got this information through his dementia friendly group which is always great support. After looking on the internet we found a chiropractor locally that had great 5* reviews.

If you would like to find out more about chiropractic and if it can help you why not visit www.eastbourne-chiropractor-near-me.com where you can find some amazing information.

From the very first telephone call with the receptionist to make the initial consultation down to the chiropractor’s treatment they have all been amazing and very helpful and they have said that they see many patients and their carers who have to live with dementia.Obviously, family accompanied him to the first consultation which took about an hour and during this assement they went through his general health and past medical history. At the follow up appointment they discussed their findings and treatment was able to begin. Despite his condition we always received fantastic care and full respect and explanations about everything that was going on which was so reassuring to us. We never felt rushed and there was always time for lots of questions.

The family have all been so grateful for this additional help in such stressful times and it is wonderful to be able to get him back out for our family strolls outside in the fresh air.He feels better and that makes us happier.

I would highly recommend chiropractic for a safe and gentle effective way of helping the body to heal naturally.
